People’s human rights and diverse needs were respected and they were treated with compassion by staff. People’s diverse needs and wishes were assessed, documented and respected. There was an equality and diversity policy and procedure in place and staff had received training to understand this.

Staff were aware of the importance of equality and diversity and said they promoted this in their work. A member of staff said, “Equality and diversity is always taken into account when we support people. We respect people’s individual needs.”

Care plans contained information about people’s spiritual and cultural needs when this was appropriate. This helped staff understand people’s specific cultural heritage and spiritual needs and wishes.
