Caring
Our overall rating of caring at Broomhill hospital has remained as requires improvement for long stay or rehabilitation mental health wards.
- Therapeutic activities were often cancelled because of staff shortages. This disrupted people’s routines and made it harder for them to build independence and continue their recovery.
- Staff consistently demonstrated a caring ethos. Their interactions with people were discreet, respectful and responsive, offering emotional support, practical help and advice
- Staff understood people’s individual needs.
- Staff helped people understand and managed their care and treatment.
- Staff understood and met people personal, cultural, social and religious needs.
- Most people were involved in planning their care and assessing risks.
- Staff asked people for feedback about the care they received.
- Families and carers were kept informed and involved appropriately.
