We found this practice was providing well led care in accordance with the relevant regulations and had taken into consideration appropriate guidance.

At the inspection on 9 May 2025, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulations:

The practice had employed a compliance manager who had helped to develop an effective governance system. Systems and processes were in the process of becoming embedded. Policies and procedures were accessible to staff and were clearly marked when they were due to be reviewed.

Processes for identifying and managing risks had improved. The practice had carried out risk assessments to assess and mitigate the risks associated with the use of radiation, fire safety, the use of sharps, medical emergencies, lone working, and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). In addition, the practice had signed up to receive patient safety alerts, recalls and rapid response reports issued by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. We were told the dental nurse reviewed these weekly, and there were processes in place to alert other staff if any were relevant to the practice. The practice had developed a business continuity plan, to help identify and plan for delivery of the service.

The practice had introduced effective systems for quality assurance and continuous improvement. The practice had carried out an audit of infection prevention and control and planned to repeat this every 6 month in line with guidance. The practice also aimed to complete regular audits of record keeping, to ensure the improvements introduced since our last inspection had become embedded. The practice had completed a radiography audit, and grading of the radiographs was now in line with current guidance. In addition, the practice had carried out a disability access audit.

Staff demonstrated an open culture in relation to people’s safety and were committed to continuing to improve.
