Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 03 September 2025 to 19 September 2025.

Affinity Trust provides supported living and outreach services to adults with learning disabilities. At the time of the inspection the service was supporting 18 people with a regulated activity. Within supported living services people's care and housing are provided under separate contractual agreements. CQC does not regulate premises used for supported living; this inspection looked at people's personal care and support. We carried out responsive assessment of the service due to aged rating and risk.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People had assessments in place when they first moved to Affinity Trust, however not everyone had received updated reviews. We discussed this with the management team who had already started to address this and put in place.

Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives. However, some peoples Mental Capacity Assessments were overdue and required to be reviewed with outside professionals; the provider had chased this up to be addressed multiple times which was evidenced. This was recorded in peoples support plans to review.

There were enough staff available to meet people’s needs. Culture within the service was positive.

Staff knew people well and, overall, had completed training to be able to support people in their preferred communication.

People's experience of this service

Feedback from people who used the service, and their relatives were mostly positive about their experiences of care comments included, “Staff are good with me they always make sure I am safe they help me around my home, i am mostly independent but they [staff] keep track on stuff that’s risky” and “I feel safe and I get to choose what I want to do” and “ The staff let me have my say. They [staff] always ask me before they do anything as well.” A relative told us, “There is always plenty of staff and they [staff] know what they are doing. Another relative told us, “They do not tell us if [name] has been to Drs or anything. We have had no review.” A third relative told us, “I am always kept informed.”
