Equity in experiences and outcomes
The registered manager and staff actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.
Staff understood the importance of treating people as individuals and tailored care and support in response to people’s wishes and expectations. They were knowledgeable about the most effective ways to communicate with people. Care plans detailed people’s communication needs and how staff could best support them. They were regularly reviewed to ensure they reflected people's current support needs and desired outcomes. Information was provided in appropriate, accurate and up-to-date formats that could be tailored to individual needs. This helped ensure staff could understand and respond to people in a way that promoted effective communication and choice.
Staff understood how to ensure people had equitable access to health and social care services.Meetings were held to ensure people and their relatives had the opportunity to express their views and be involved in decisions about their care. Staff were trained in equality, diversity and inclusion. They recognised and respected people’s cultural and faith needs. Staff promoted people’s independence, supported people to achieve good outcomes and maintained their well-being. People told us the staff actively sought out and listened to information about their experiences. A person told us, “I’m very comfortable with the staff and they listen to me.”
