During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 19 March 2026.

We found the practice had met all regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Bupa Dental Care Hailsham is part of Bupa, a dental group provider. The practice is in Hailsham and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice is located over 2 floors with 1 ground floor surgery. Patients are made aware of access arrangements upon contacting the practice. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people were available near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 13 staff. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including the lead dental nurse, 2 dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

On our visit we spoke with two patients. One patient told us, 'I have always had a top class service here.'

Both patients we spoke to told us that they had been involved in discussions with their dentist about the treatments available to them and the costs attached to these. We saw records that confirmed that patients had been involved in decisions about their treatment.

We spoke with five staff, two of whom were part of the practice management team. Staff were able to clearly describe the process for maintaining infection control within the treatment rooms.

We saw that within the practice that the communal areas and clinical areas were clean and hygienic with appropriate and maintained dental equipment in place.

We looked at four staff files. We found that staff had been provided with appropriate regular training by the practice.

There were processes and audits in place to review the quality of the service provided for patients.
