Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

People’s care plans provided staff with guidance on which tasks of daily living the person required support with and what they could do undertake by themselves. People and relatives confirmed they were involved in developing and reviewing their care plans. People and relatives were supported to make decisions about their care. A relatives told us, “Consent, staff ask what [my family member] wants with washing etc. It’s the care they want.” People’s care plans included information about their wishes in relation to their care and risk assessments were developed to ensure care was not restrictive.
