During an assessment under our new approach

We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 15 June 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.

We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of Markham Associates on 18 March 2026. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of regulation 17 good governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

The practice is in Reading and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the inspection we spoke with the principal dentist and 1 dental nurse.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Recruitment procedures did not reflect current legislation.

The practice had not implemented systems to assess, monitor and manage risks to patient and staff safety. In particular, emergency equipment and medicines, substances hazardous to health and fire safety.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Reading and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, at the rear of the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 5 staff, of which there were 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses and 1 receptionist.

We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to all present staff during our inspection.

The provider was not complying with 2 regulations, Regulation 17 (good governance) and Regulation 18 (staffing) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) 2014.
