Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 6 October 2025.

The service is a residential care home providing support for older people, including people living with dementia and nursing needs. The care home can accommodate up to 50 people and, at the time of the assessment, 46 people lived there. This assessment was carried out as the previous inspection was conducted in 2020.

People’s care needs were safely and effectively met. People, and their relatives where appropriate, were involved in planning their own care and had opportunities to give feedback to the provider. The atmosphere in’ the service was welcoming, and staff were friendly and approachable. We observed compassionate caring interactions between staff and people living at the care home.

People were protected from the risk of harm or abuse through effective safeguarding and emergency contingency planning measures. The provider took effective action when things went wrong at the service and referred to relevant authorities involved with people's care when necessary.

Safeguarding incidents were managed in a timely and effective manner. The provider’s documentation showed the actions taken by the provider, any learning from incidents, and how this was shared to reduce recurrences.

Leaders created a culture in the care home which fostered respect and transparency. People living at the care home, and their relatives, told us they could approach leaders and have their concerns actioned, and the staff were accessible, compassionate and approachable.

At this assessment we assessed two key questions in full and only 1 quality statement in caring and responsive. We did noy assess effective. As we assessed some but not all quality statements at this visit it means we use the ratings from the previous inspection to rate all the key questions of effective, caring and responsive. We will carry out future assessments to cover other parts of the framework and will update our website with our findings.

People's experience of this service

People were positive about living at the care home. Relatives told us their loved one was safe there and their individual needs were met effectively. For example, a relative told us, “Yes, they’re safe because the staff are very caring. I visit often and I witness that staff have the residents’ interests at heart.”

A person living at the service told us they had enough to do to occupy their time and were able to approach the registered manager of the service if they had any concerns.

People received their prescribed medication, which was managed and administered effectively by staff. People had access to GP appointments and other external health professionals when required.

People were supported to have enough to eat and drink. People were offered choices and supported with their decisions around their nutrition. People’s meal preferences were respected and catered for. People at the service told us they liked the food and felt they always had plenty to eat and drink.

Staff provided choices for people in terms of their preferences with nutrition, socialising, activities and how their care needs were met. People’s choices were respected and, where they lacked the mental capacity to make certain decisions for themselves, arrangements were in place for a best interest decision making process to be carried out. This included collaboration with the person’s relatives and external health care professionals if needed.
