During an inspection looking at part of the service

During our inspection on 27 February 2014 we found that patients' privacy was not ensured because private conversations with patients' could be overheard and the surgery room door had a glass window through which patients' could be seen during their treatments.

We asked the provider to send us an action plan by 17 April 2014 to address the shortfalls identified. At this inspection we found improvements had been made to ensure patients' privacy.

During a routine inspection

The patients we spoke with were very positive about the service. One person said, "[The dentist] has done a perfect job". Another person told us that they were "very happy [with their treatment]". However, we noted that patients' privacy was not ensured because the dental surgery door had a glass window through which a patient receiving treatment could be seen from outside.

Patients told us they were given sufficient information about their treatment and the fees involved, so they could make an informed decision to consent to it.

The premises were clean and systems for infection control were in place. The decontamination room was being upgraded. Staff had support and training. We noted the provider had complaints procedure.
