Our current view of the service

Updated 10 February 2026

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 1 June 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice had some systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control. Improvements were required to ensure that risks relating to fire safety, radiation safety, and the management of medical emergencies were effectively identified, managed, and mitigated. Improvements were also necessary in governance and oversight arrangements to ensure that risks associated with the delivery of the regulated activity were subject to effective monitoring and mitigation.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles and recruitment procedures broadly reflected current legislation.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Wilton Dental Care is in the City of Westminster, central London and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and some children.

The practice was located up a flight of stairs. Patients who had accessibility requirements were informed and signposted to other practices in the area.

The practice had 1 treatment room. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 3 staff, of which there was the principal dentist, 1 trainee dental nurse, and the practice manager. We spoke to all staff during our inspection.

The provider was not complying with Regulation 17, Good governance. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

People's experience of the service

Updated 10 February 2026

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive any feedback. On the day of our inspection, we spoke with 1 patient. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Comments included, “I cannot speak highly enough about this practice. It is easy to get an appointment, and if it is urgent I am seen quickly. The staff are all very friendly and professional. I have always been made to feel welcome. All treatment options are explained in depth, and I am involved in all decision making. The principal dentist explains things in simple terms in a way that I can understand. The staff are all very personable and the care and passion they show makes all the difference.”

The patient commented positively about the standards of cleanliness and felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.

The patient told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.

The patient said when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
