Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. People received equitable care and were treated fairly, with their rights fully respected. The service gave people various opportunities to enable them to fulfil their wishes and preferences. One relative shared, “I appreciate how the staff ask my loved one about their food preferences, what they like and dislike. The staff are caring and looking after them well.” We observed kind and respectful interactions during the inspection reflecting the service’s commitment to equity. Another relative told us, “I’ve observed how staff interact with my loved one and others. It’s encouraging how they are treated.” Records demonstrated that people’s individuality and preferences were celebrated. One person told us, “They let me live my life the way I want to.” The staff team was diverse, and everyone was accepted, ensuring that different backgrounds and needs were acknowledged. All policies and procedures followed relevant legislation to ensure people and staff received fair treatment.
