At this assessment the rating has remained good.This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control

The service promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People were supported to maintain their independence, make choices, and have control over their care. Comments from people included, “Staff help me maintain my independence to a degree,” and another sharing, “It's important for me to do what I can for myself.”People were treated with kindness, empathy, and compassion, and they felt well supported. One staff member said, “I support our residents with their spiritual and wellbeing needs.” People were actively involved in decisions about their care, and where appropriate, relatives were consulted and kept up to date. One relative told us, “Management is approachable, and I am kept updated on things going on. I’m always informed.” We observed staff offering choices to people in a respectful and kind manner. People were supported to make choices within their care plans, with input from relatives and healthcare professionals.
