Our view of the service

Adamscourt is a residential care home for up to 25 people. The service provides care for older adults and people living with dementia. At the time of the inspection, 24 people were using the service. During the inspection we assessed the quality statements under the key questions of safe, caring and responsive. The inspection took place between 2 April and 3 April 2025. Staff were appropriately skilled and experienced to deliver care, and recruitment processes were in place. Procedures were in place to ensure the required checks were carried out on staff before they commenced their employment. This included enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for adults. DBS checks provide information including details about convictions and cautions held on the police national computer. The information helps employers make safer recruitment decisions. However, in some instances, these checks had not been completed in line with the provider’s policy. The registered manager took timely action to address this, and we were assured by the improvements made. Risks to people were assessed and effectively managed. There were sufficient staff to meet people’s needs safely. Staff knew people well and treated them with dignity and respect, recognising their individual preferences and needs. A staff member told us, “I am very happy here; I love this home.” Interactions observed during the inspection were caring and respectful. Systems were in place to monitor and improve the quality of care provided.

Since they have been here, I’ve been happier.” Relatives told us they were confident in both the registered manager and staff team. Staff empowered people to make their own choices and people were actively included in how their care was planned and delivered. All of the people we spoke with told us they enjoyed accessing activities and events provided by the service. During the inspection, we observed a variety of positive, inclusive interactions, reflecting the service’s commitment to creating a supportive and respectful environment for everyone.
