During an assessment under our new approach
Date of Assessment: 16th April – 28th April 2026.
This comprehensive assessment was undertaken on 16 April 2026, with additional remote evidence reviewed up to 28 April 2026. Best Care Co is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 10 people with a range of needs, including dementia, physical disability, sensory impairment and mental health needs. This was the provider’s first comprehensive assessment.
Staff understood people’s risks well and supported independence through positive risk‑taking, with clear guidance in care plans and risk assessments. People and relatives consistently told us they felt safe and well cared for. They described staff as kind, attentive and respectful, and said care was delivered in a calm and unhurried way.
Staffing levels were managed to meet people’s needs and leaders had good oversight of call times through electronic monitoring systems as well as oversight in the field. Staff received regular supervision, spot checks and training, and told us they felt well supported by managers who were visible, approachable and experienced in care delivery.
Care records were comprehensive, person‑centred and regularly reviewed. Medicines were managed safely using electronic systems, with no concerns identified during record reviews.
The service was well led. Leaders demonstrated a strong values‑based culture focused on safety, compassion and quality. There were clear governance systems to monitor incidents, medicines, staffing and care quality, with learning shared through management oversight.
