During an assessment under our new approach

Date of Assessment: 28 July 2026. The service is a care home providing support to older people, younger people and people living with dementia. We carried out an assessment looking at all the quality statements and all key questions. Our decision to inspect the service was due to concerns we received regarding personal care, freedom to speak up, risk management and medicine management, and to give the service a rating. The current provider registered in April 2025, and this is their first inspection. The service can support up to 50 people. At the time of our inspection 32 people were living at the home.

People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse. Staff received safeguarding training and knew how to recognise and report abuse. Risks associated with people's care were identified and managed to keep people safe. Accidents and incidents were reviewed and analysed to identify trends and patterns, and the management team took action to reduce risks and improve practice. Lessons learned exercises were completed following safeguarding concerns, complaints and other significant events, with clear actions identified and implemented to drive continuous improvement and help prevent recurrence.

People received their medicines from staff who were trained and competent to administer them safely. However, we found some gaps in medication administration records for application of topical creams and 1 patch record could have been improved to record the site the patch was applied to and clear patch rotation. The management team had made improvements to infection prevention and control practices. However, further attention was needed, as some areas were not sufficiently clean.

The management team were also taking action to address some environmental issues. Some investment had been made. However, additional improvements were still required.

People were supported to access healthcare professionals as required. People had access to food and fluid which met their individual needs and preferences. Staff did not always work together well, and the management team were working to improve this.

People were supported by staff who were kind, caring and considerate. The home had an activity co-ordinator who provided social stimulation and organised events.

People had access to a complaints procedure and knew how to raise concerns. The management team had a record of complaints and compliments. All were followed through in line with procedures. Care plans were person centred and identified how people preferred their care to be delivered.

The management team had identified some areas for improvement and had an action plan they were working on. Staff told us the management team were approachable and supportive.
