Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
The provider had inclusive leaders at all levels who understood the context in which they delivered care, treatment and support, and embodied the culture and values of their workforce and organisation. Leaders had the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively. They did so with integrity, openness and honesty. The registered manager demonstrated strong leadership and was described as approachable and supportive. People and staff told us they felt confident raising concerns and that the registered manager listened and acted on feedback. One person said, “You can speak to the manager, her door is always open. She is very approachable and seems to listen.” A family member told us, “I have had conversations with her and she is approachable. She seems to try and help everyone. I have seen her get involved on the floor.” This showed that leadership was visible and inclusive. Staff reported that the registered manager promoted a positive culture and worked alongside the team when needed. Observations confirmed the registered manager stepped in to help during busy periods and supported staff with care tasks. People told us they felt the home was well run and communication was good. Regular meetings and surveys were used to gather views from people and families, and changes were made in response to feedback, such as improving menus. This demonstrated that leadership was compassionate, capable and committed to continuous improvement.

They acted on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes, and shared this securely with others when appropriate. The registered manager had effective governance systems in place to monitor quality and safety. Regular audits were completed, including checks on infection control, fire safety, dignity in care, and mealtime experience. Outcomes from audits were discussed in governance meetings, and actions were recorded and tracked to ensure improvements were made.
