During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 20 January 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice had systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control. We noted that improvements were needed to ensure more effective communication within the group when responding to recommendations from risk assessments.

Bupa Dental Care Stretton is part of BUPA a dental group provider. The practice is in Burton On Trent, Staffordshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and 4 dedicated car parking spaces available at the practice. The practice was in a Business Centre where ample ‘Pay by App’ parking was available.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 15 staff, of which there were 6 dentists, 4 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, 3 receptionists and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 3 dentists, 4 dental nurses, the dental hygienist, 2 receptionists and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection to check on the care and welfare of people using this service. Our inspection was discussed and arranged two days in advance. This was to ensure that we had time to see and speak with staff working at the practice, as well as people registered with the service.

People receiving care and treatment from this practice paid independently, contributed to a dental payment scheme or accessed their dentistry through NHS costs. The practice had a current contract with the NHS to provide NHS dental care to people.

We saw evidence to demonstrate treatment could be arranged at a convenient time, and people told us they did not experience any lengthy delays. People could consider their treatment options and any costs involved and did not have to make a decision immediately.

Everyone we spoke with told us they were happy with the service and would recommend the practice to family and friends. Some of those people also told us about the opinions of others in their family and how their children were treated, these comments were also positive. People we spoke with had used the practice since it had opened and one person told us, 'The staff here always treat us well, and let us know what they're doing.' Another person said, 'I don't feel anxious coming here, I've had bad experiences in the past but they treat me well here and I no longer get scared.'
