Our current view of the service

Updated 29 April 2026

We carried out this announced off-site inspection on 30 July 2026.

Where we carry out an off-site assessment, we undertake a detailed review of the practice risk assessments, policies, staff records and other relevant documents. We gather feedback from patients, staff and stakeholders (where relevant). We carry out a remote visual assessment of the premises and have discussions with staff.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Mydentist - Claremont Bank - Shrewsbury is part of Mydentist, a dental group provider. The practice is in Shrewsbury and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice via a portable ramp, with car parking spaces available nearby, including dedicated parking for disabled people. On-street parking was available in the local area, and the practice was located close to local transport links.

The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 29 staff. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 4 dental nurses (including 3 trainee dental nurses), and the practice manager. Two of the group’s Regional Regulatory Officers were also at the inspection, supporting the team.

People's experience of the service

Updated 29 April 2026

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. From the feedback we saw, all patients who responded said they would recommend the practice to family or friends.

Patients praised the practice for its friendly and caring staff, saying “From reception to dentist their work has always been good, and everyone is polite and friendly,” and “The receptionists are lovely helpful and friendly… go above and beyond to help... the dentists the same.”

Patients also highlighted the quality of treatment and professionalism. Comments included “Was able to cater for my complex needs with compassion and patience,” “Polite professional,” “Always a professional approach from the dentist,” and “I have been an NHS patient at this practice for over 10 years and have consistently received high-quality care.”

Patients commented positively on the care they received and how they were made to feel, with feedback including “The dentist was very gentle doing the check up and had nice bed side manner putting me at ease,” “I hate going to the dentist, terrified. But everyone is very patient with me. All lovely,” and “Very helpful and friendly, I [have] been with the dentist about 20 plus years, I [have] had no problems, each time they had made me not [feel] frightened and helped me.”

Patients appreciated the practice’s responsiveness and access to care, particularly for urgent treatment. One patient said, “[My wife] had dental pain overnight and they saw her next day,” while another commented “I applied to be an NHS patient and only waited 4 days for a spot to become free.”

A small number of comments identified areas for improvement, including delays with appointment timings, and difficulty rescheduling a cancelled procedure. We noted the practice responded to patient feedback and directed the individuals to contact the practice to discuss their experience.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
