Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

The provider always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

Treating people as individuals

Score: 3

We did not look at Treating people as individuals during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Caring.

Independence, choice and control

Score: 2

The provider did not always promote people’s independence, so people did not always know their rights and have choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

People’s care plans included information about supporting independence and daily living skills. However, we observed, staff were mostly doing things for people, rather than supporting them to do things for themselves. For example, people were not regularly supported to be involved in food preparation or use their kitchen to get their own drinks or snacks. Some people's opportunities for community access were limited, due to staff not offering variation and spontaneity and was dependent on staffing arrangements and availability.
