During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 4 August 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Stevenage and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 10 staff, of which there were 3 dentists, 2 dental hygienists, 4 dental nurses, 2 of whom also worked on reception and 1 of whom also worked on reception and was additionally an administrator, and 1 receptionist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection.

During a routine inspection

People who used the service were given appropriate information regarding their care or treatment to help them make an informed choice. One person told us, "The dentist explains the treatment choices available to me and the cost. I then make a choice.'

People we spoke with during our visit made positive comments about their care and treatment. One person said, 'I came here for many years, I left to see if I could find anything better but I couldn't, so I came back.' Another person said, 'I couldn't rate them higher.'

People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment. All areas of the premises, including the reception area and the dental treatment rooms, were clean and well maintained.

We saw evidence that the dentist and the dental nurses were registered with the General Dental Council. This showed that they had completed the required amount of hours of training. People spoke positively about the staff and described them as, 'Competent, friendly and approachable.'

People who used the service were asked for their views about their treatment and they were acted upon.
