Our view of the service
Dates of assessment: From 1 June to 8 June 2026.
Amethyst Care Home is a care home providing accommodation and personal care to people with mental health needs, some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 8 people living at the service.
People were protected from harm. Staff assessed and managed risks effectively and the registered manager promoted a culture of reviewing and learning from incidents and events. People received their care and support from safely recruited and appropriately trained staff.
People’s needs were assessed and they were supported to eat healthily. Timely referrals were made to healthcare professionals and staff followed their guidance. Staff managed and administered people’s medicines effectively and ensured that people consented to their care and support.
Staff protected people’s dignity and privacy, treated them as individuals and provided person centred care. Staff provided information to people in ways they could understand and supported them to plan for the future.
The registered manager promoted an open and inclusive culture at the service and staff felt supported in their roles. The quality of the care and support people received was audited and actions were planned, carried out and reviewed when shortfalls were identified. The service worked collaboratively with other agencies to improve staff skills and knowledge, and people’s care and support.
