Our current view of the service

Date of Assessment: 20 to 28 May 2026. The service is a nursing home providing support to older people some of whom may be living with Dementia. Managers investigated incidents, accidents and complaints thoroughly. Lessons learned were documented and staff were encouraged to use reflective practice tools. There were clear and effective processes in place to keep people safe and protect them from harm. Risks were identified and mitigated as much as possible.
The facilities and equipment metpeople’sneeds, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience to meet people’s needs. Managers made sure staff received training and regular 1:1 meeting to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes.The provider used clinical tools to monitor outcomes for people. People had access to a range of health care professionals when required. People told us they had interesting activities to do which helped them to maintain health and wellbeing. Effective governance systems were in place to ensure the quality of care was checked and any concerns addressed without delay. Staff told us they were supported by an experienced team of managers. Staff were able to raise concerns without fear of any repercussions.

People were positive about the quality of their care. They felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and understood their rights. People told us they received high quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals.One personsaid, “You walk through the doors, and you can feel arms being put around you, we will take care of you.” Another person said, “I feel safe because the carers look after me and I do feel safe.”
People and relatives also said the serviceprovidedlots of interesting activities to keeppeoplephysically and mentally active. One relative said, “There’s always something going on, they put a lot of thought into the activities. The residents all look nicely cared for. It [the home] smells nice.”
People can see their family and friends when they want to, one person said, “My daughter visits my room. My daughter brings my wife in. They can come in any time. They just turn up. They are offered tea.”
People told us they liked the food and were offered choices. One person said, “No complaints. I have an allergy, nothing too acid. They are very good at what they bring me. I have always been happy with what they have brought me so far. Plenty to drink. There’s always a jug of water. A cup of tea with a spoon of sugar, just the job.”
Another person told us, “I have some meals in my room and some in the dining room. I sit at the same table and we know each other. If there’s anything special on, I will go and you see them there then, but I don’t mind being on my own.”
People felt able to raise concerns and were confident action would be taken and improvements would be made. People knew staff and leaders well. One person told us, “I met someone I thought was the manager, and the senior nursing staff. I would be able to speak to them.” Several people described how staff responded to their immediate needs. One person said, “I press the button. Pretty good response. I call somebody during the night when I need the toilet, and someone will help me. I’ve never had a problem, never had to wait very long.” Another person said, “You have a buzzer if you need anything. I needed pain relief the first night and a chap arrived and I asked him for pain relief which he gave me”.
Overall people and their relatives were positive about the home, with comments such as “The reception staff have been great, communication has been good. Very accommodating to us as visitors, make us feel at home. We get offered food and drink” and “It’s not home, but it’s a good substitute.” We asked people if they thought the home was clean, one person said, “Yes, it’s clean, not pokey. Towels and sheets are changed regularly. The staff are all kind and helpful.” Another person said, “The room is lovely. It’s kept clean."
