We undertook a comprehensive assessment of this newly registered service covering all quality statements across our 5 key questions.

People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks to people’s safety. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Staff received regular training and supervision to ensure they provided care safely and in line with best practice guidance.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff monitored people’s health to support healthy living. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent. Staff involved those important to people to take decisions in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. The provider supported staff wellbeing.

People were involved in decisions about their care. Staff provided information people could understand. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the provider took it seriously and acted on it.

Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. There was a programme of regular audit to review the quality of care delivery and there was a culture of continuous improvement.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives were happy with the care provided. They were involved in the care planning process and staff respected their wishes and preferences. One relative said, “We’re very happy with the care and support provided”. People received support from consistent care workers who knew them well. A relative told us, “[Staff member] knows exactly how [their family member] likes things, even down to their toast and tea.” Another relative said, “I’m happy. The care staff are good, kind, and they make a big effort to keep my [family member] comfortable and clean." Relatives told us there was good communication from the management team and they were encouraged to give feedback about the service.
