Essence Supported Living Limited is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our inspection, 1 person was receiving personal care. This is the first time CQC has carried out an inspection of this service since the service registered with CQC in August 2024. As a result of this inspection, the service has been rated Requires Improvement in Safe and Good overall. The provider was in breach of Regulation 19, fit and proper persons employed. This is because the provider did not carry out all required pre-employment checks on staff. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
Steps had been taken to safeguard people from abuse and risk assessments were in place to help mitigate risks people faced. There were enough staff to support people and staff received regular training and supervision.
People’s needs were assessed and reviewed. Staff, management and people worked together to ensure people’s needs were met. People were able to consent to their care. The provider promoted the wellbeing of its staff. Care and support were person-centred.
People were listened to and involved in planning their care. The provider had various quality assurance and monitoring systems in place to help drive improvements. Staff and people who used the service spoke positively about the leadership team and there was a shared and open culture at the service.
