During an assessment under our new approach
We undertook a follow-up off-site inspection on 24 July 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of UK Smiles Dental Practice Limited – Romford on 2 April 2026. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of regulation 17; Good Governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met regulations.
Risks were appropriately assessed and managed, with measures now in place to mitigate identified risks.
The recruitment policy reflected current legislation and the provider confirmed that it was followed when recruiting new members of staff.
Processes were now in place to ensure safe management of medicines and prescriptions in line with current guidance.
Governance and oversight arrangements at the practice had improved.
UK Smiles Dental Practice Romford is one of two locations operated by the provider. The practice is in Romford in the London Borough of Havering and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice is located on the first floor of the building and is accessed via a flight of stairs. The practice was unsuitable for those in wheelchairs and mobility issues. The practice is opposite the town’s railway station and car parking spaces are available near the practice.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 11 staff, of which there were 3 associate dentists- one of whom had special interest in orthodontics, 1 visiting orthodontist, 1 visiting oral surgeon, 3 qualified dental nurses and 1 dental hygienist. Staff are supported by 1 administrator and the practice manager who works across both locations. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 1 dental nurse, the administrator and the practice manager.
The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection
