During an assessment of Surgery

We carried out the assessment on 27 January and 06 February 2026 as Feeding Untied Limited had not been assessed under its new location. This was a short notice announced assessment to ensure we had the opportunity to observe care and treatment being carried out.

As part of the assessment process, we carried out a visit to the clinic where the tongue-tie assessments and frenulotomy procedures were provided. During the visit, we spoke with individuals who had used the service. We observed 1 tongue-tie assessment and frenulotomy procedure taking place and reviewed 5 patient records. In addition, we spoke with 7 caregivers whose infants had undergone an assessment and received a frenulotomy procedure within the 12 months leading up to our visit. Throughout this report, the term caregivers is used to describe individuals with parental responsibility for the infant.

We rated the care at the service as outstanding and the service as good overall.

During an assessment of the hospital overall

Feeding UnTied Limited offers tongue-tie services in Warwick. Tongue-tie, also known as ankyloglossia, is a condition where the fascial tissue (strip of skin connecting the babies’ tongue to the bottom of their mouth) is shorter than usual. Some babies need a surgical intervention to release the tongue, which is known as a frenulotomy.

Feeding UnTied Limited has been registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to undertake the regulated activity of surgical procedures for frenulotomy only, since 13 June 2024. The service was originally registered with the CQC on 13 March 2019; however, the service re-located to a new premises on 13 June 2024 and is therefore currently unrated. The service has a registered manager who is also the clinician who carries out the regulated activity. The registered manager is a NMC registered midwife and nurse. They are also a qualified International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) for lactation and Infant feeding. They are listed as an approved independent tongue-tie practitioner with the Association of Tongue-Tie Practitioners (ATP). Along with the frenulotomy service, the provider offers baby feeding and lactation support services and craniosacral therapy which are not regulated by the CQC. In 2025, Feeding Untied Limit undertook 260 tongue-tie assessments.

The onsite assessments were undertaken on the 27 January 2026 and 06 February 2026 and consisted of 2 CQC inspectors. The onsite visits were followed by an offsite interview with the registered manager. We observed 1 frenulotomy assessment and procedure being carried out, spoke with 7 families who had used the service, reviewed clinical records and policies and procedures and reviewed online feedback.
