Background to this inspection

Updated 11 February 2016

Background

The provider dentist took over the practice in Spring 2015 and is in the first year of operation.

The dentist offers both NHS (approximately 95%) and some private dental care services to patients. The services provided include preventative advice and treatment and routine and restorative dental care. The practice has four dentists, four qualified dental nurses; in addition to an office manager.

The practice has four treatment rooms, a separate office, a reception area, waiting area and a decontamination room. The building is two storeys with treatment rooms accessible on the ground floor and first floors. The practice is open on Monday to Wednesday 8:30-5.30pm, Thursday 9-5pm and Friday 9-4.pm

We viewed 50 CQC comment cards that had been left for patients to complete, prior to our visit, about the services provided. In addition we spoke with four patients on the day of our inspection. Feedback from patients was overwhelmingly positive about the care they received from the practice. They commented staff were caring and particularly good with nervous patients. They confirmed that they had confidence in the dental services provided. Patients told us they had no difficulties in arranging a convenient appointment and emergency appointments were made available. We also reviewed patient feedback gathered by the practice through for the NHS Friends and Family Test. The test revealed that 99% of patients would recommend this dentist to their family and friends.
