During an assessment under our new approach
This assessment took place between 7th February 2025 and 18th March 2025.
The service is a six-bed care home providing support to people with a learning disability and a history of forensic services. The service is registered to support up to 6 people. The time of the assessment, there were 4 people living at the service.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
Skirbeck Lodge provided a good level of clinical oversight which included various audits and virtual ward rounds with external professionals. People’s medicines were managed safely and their health and well-being monitored with support from various professionals. Staff had a good understanding of safeguarding and mental health processes and felt that they were supported and well trained. They offered a less restrictiveenvironment while ensuring people agreed legal conditions of their placement were met. Staff sought people’s consent and treated people with respect, promoting choice and encouraging people to understand and apply their rights. Information was presented in ways people could understand, and individual communication needs were understood by staff.
