During an assessment under our new approach
Date of Assessment: 24 February 2026. The provider, Barnsley Healthcare Federation CIC – HSCA provides extended hours services to the population of Barnsley. This includes in and out of core GP hours, a home visiting service and additional cervical cytology clinics. We conducted this assessment as a new registered location due to the provider moving its main registered premises address. The service operates from the main site at BHF Priory Centre, Pontefract Road, Lundwood, S71 5PN with a branch site at Chapelfield Medical Centre based at Mayflower Way, Wombwell, Barnsley, S73 0AJ. We visited both sites as part of this assessment. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.
We found breaches of regulation in relation to Regulation 17 – Good Governance due to the provider not having adequate systems and processes in place to enable them to identify and assess risks to the health, safety and/or welfare of people who use the service.
