All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 5 August 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Cheltenham and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and NHS and private treatment for children.

The practice is not suitable for patients with limited mobility due to steps to access and internal steps. If patients contact the practice to discuss mobility needs the staff team can advise how they can assist or direct to a more accessible practice.

The practice had 6 treatment rooms.

At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 18 staff, of which there were 4 dentists, 7 dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 dental hygiene therapist, 1 dental hygienist, 3 receptionists and the practice manager.

We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 dental hygiene therapist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

When we visited Cambray Dental Practice we spoke to four patients, two dentists, two dental nurses and the practice manager. We found that patients were informed about their treatment options and that treatment plans had been provided to include the costs. Patients told us about the surgery, "I am happy with the dentist and impressed with the technology", and "the dentist always checks my health each time"

We looked at detailed treatment plans where patients' medical history had been regularly recorded. This meant that patients were protected from unsafe practice when their complete medical history was known. We observed that patients were spoken to with respect and consideration in the surgery. The practice was clean throughout and instruments were cleaned and sterilised effectively. Complaints were taken seriously and acted upon. Quality assurance audits had been completed and action taken when required. Patients' surveys results had been mainly positive.
