Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People choices were respected by staff and recorded within care plans. For example, 1 person wished to have their curtains open at night for visibility in the dark. People were encouraged to remain independent for example, 1 care plan informed staff that the person was able to wash their hands and face but needed staff to wash their back. Staff knew how to respect people’s privacy. One staff said, “We close curtains, close doors, ask them if we can provide their personal care.” People and relatives told us, “The care is excellent”, “The staff are brilliant with everyone. Nothing is too much trouble for them” and “The staff are lovely.”
