During an assessment under our new approach
Cedar Lawn Nursing Home is a care home which provides personal care and nursing for up to 30 people. There were 24 people living at the service during our inspection. The reason we inspected was in response to concerns we received for people’s safety. This is the first inspection for this service therefore we reviewed all quality statements under the key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The inspection was carried out between 17 March and 24 March 2025.
We found 2 breaches of regulation in relation to consent and good governance.
The principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) were not always being followed which meant people were not always being protected.
While the provider had checks and audits in place, these were not always used effectively to identify shortfalls, errors and omissions. This placed people at increased risk of receiving poor quality and unsafe care.
We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the shortfalls we identified during the inspection.
The registered manager responded to shortfalls identified during this inspection by introducing new governance systems and reviewing people’s care records.
Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally. Staff were kind and caring, taking into consideration people’s individuality. Safeguarding incidents were monitored, and policies and procedures were in place.Notifications were made as required by law. People’s views and preferences were communicated and acted upon.
Health and social care professionals were complimentary about working with the service.
