Our view of the service
Date of inspection 4 June to 10 June 2026.
J.C.Michael Groups Ltd Southend provides personal and nursing care to people who require support in their own homes. This service is a domiciliary care agency. At the time of inspection 25 people were being supported by the service.
This was the first inspection of the service, and we carried out a comprehensive inspection. A short period of notice was given before the inspection to ensure the registered manager would be available in the office.
People received care that was person centred to their needs. There was a consistent team of staff who had received the appropriate training to support people. The appropriate employment checks were in place to ensure staff were suitable to work with vulnerable people. The registered manager provided supervision of staff and checked their competencies to fulfil their role.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
The registered manager had good oversight of the service and the quality assurance systems in place supported this. Complaints were responded to quickly and full safeguarding investigation completed when indicated. Reviews were regularly completed and feedback obtained from people being supported.
People's experience of this service
Feedback we received from people and relatives was generally positive about the care they received. One person said, “Staff are always respectful towards me and always happy and bubbly, and they are just a joy for me to have here.” A relative said, “Staff always ensure they are warm enough when they have a shower. The staff are very well trained with doing personal care.” Another person told us, “I would recommend this agency to others.”
