During an assessment of Surgery

Surgical services are provided in several specialties including trauma and orthopaedics, ear, nose, and throat, and general surgery. Diagnostic imaging and physiotherapy are provided as part of orthopaedic treatment pathways.

Surgical services operate from a theatre with laminar air flow (ventilation equipment that reduces the presence of harmful airborne organisms), a post-operative recovery unit, and an inpatient ward with 8 beds.

We carried out unannounced inspections on 22 January 2025 and 22 February 2025. We carried out an announced inspection on 11 April 2025 to include the diagnostic imaging aspect of the orthopaedic pathway. We announced that part of the inspection to make sure the service was in operation.

We have not previously inspected or rated this service. We rated it as good because it was safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led.

The provider offers surgical care and treatment services to NHS patients under digital mutual aid system (DMAS) arrangements with NHS trusts and commissioning arrangements with integrated care boards, and to self-funding patients. DMAS refers to a national system that enables patients experiencing lengthy delays on NHS waitlists to undergo treatment in the independent sector. Around 90% of patients are from the NHS.
