Our view of the service

Surgical services are provided in several specialties including trauma and orthopaedics, ear, nose, and throat, and general surgery. Diagnostic imaging and physiotherapy are provided as part of orthopaedic treatment pathways.

Surgical services operate from a theatre with laminar air flow (ventilation equipment that reduces the presence of harmful airborne organisms), a post-operative recovery unit, and an inpatient ward with 8 beds.

We carried out unannounced inspections on 22 January 2025 and 22 February 2025. We carried out an announced inspection on 11 April 2025 to include the diagnostic imaging aspect of the orthopaedic pathway. We announced that part of the inspection to make sure the service was in operation.

We have not previously inspected or rated this service. We rated it as good because it was safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led.

People's experience of this service

People we spoke with were happy with the service and standards of care they had received. Most patients had been on waiting lists for NHS treatment for over a year and told us it was a relief to undergo surgery. All of the patients and relatives we spoke with said staff were kind, friendly, and compassionate and said they felt involved in decisions about their care. Written feedback from patients reflected satisfaction with integrated care between the provider’s services and the NHS. In the provider’s survey, patients consistently awarded a maximum 5-star rating to standards of care and their likelihood to recommend the service. Patients felt access to the service was straightforward and staff worked with them to reduce barriers to care.
