Our view of the service

Kinnco Ltd (trading name AVA Clinics),is a private clinic focused on the provision of invasive and non-invasive treatments for patients suffering from venous insufficiency issues (varicose veins, thread veins and venous leg ulcers) and providing appropriate advice to improve general cardiovascular health as part of a holistic venous health approach.
Treatment options offered included endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) – a minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided procedure performed under local anaesthetic; radio frequency ablation (RFA) –similar to EVLA, using heat via radio waves; ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) – using foam injections of sodium tetradecyl sulphate; avulsions (phlebectomies) – physical removal of varicose veins;micro-sclerotherapy– injection treatment for spider/thread veins;and thermocoagulation – for facial thread veins wheremicro-sclerotherapyis unsuitable.
Patients had an initial consultation including clinical history,examination and ultrasound scan. Treatments were provided at a later date,and follow-up was provided to assess treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction.
The service had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met the needs of people, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills,qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care.
People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s personal and health needs. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and treatment. The service supported staff well-being.Patient-centred care and feedback from people using the service was largely positive.
People were involved in decisions about their care. The service provided information people could understand. People were involved in planning their care and understood options around choosing to withdraw or not receive care.
Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible,knowledgeable and supportive. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. There was a culture of improvement.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. We spoke with one service user during our inspection and reviewed online feedback. However, the service did not formally gather and monitor patient feedback. The registered manager told us this was something they planned to implement in the future.
