Date of Assessment: 23 September – 10 October 2025. Amphion View is a residential care home providing personal care to 31 people at the time of the inspection. The service can support up to 35 people. Some people using the service were living with dementia.
We assessed the service because there had been concerns identified regarding fire safety and infection prevention and control.
During this assessment the provider was in breach of regulations in relation to people’s safe care and treatment, safeguarding people from abuse and good governance.
Quality monitoring systems were in place but not always effective. Some areas for improvement we identified during the site visit had not been detected by the provider's quality monitoring systems. For example, people were at risk of harm from unmanaged risks in the premises. Infection prevention and control systems were not effectively implemented.
People were not always supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff did not support them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; we were not assured the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
Risk assessments were in place, but they were not always sufficiently detailed to ensure staff could meet people's needs. However, we found no evidence that these shortfalls had any adverse impact on people. Staff received, stored, administered, and disposed of medicines safely. There were enough staff to keep people safe, and staff understood their role in reporting concerns about people’s health and wellbeing.
People were supported to maintain good health, have access to healthcare services and received on-going healthcare support. The care records we checked showed they had received support from healthcare professionals when required. We found staff approached people in a kindly manner. We observed staff were caring and considerate. Staff respected people and treated them with dignity.
