During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment,22 July to 19 August. Hummingbird Care is a care at home service providing personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our assessment 51 people received support with a regulated activity. Staff were recruited safely. Learning from errors or complaints was embedded in the service. Medicines were administered to people safely. People were protected from harm as staff were aware of how to report their concerns. Effective systems were in place to ensure the quality of care was checked regularly. The management team had good oversight of the service.
Staff told us they enjoyed working for the service, felt valued and supported. One staff member said, “Yes, I feel supported by the team and managers. I have access to training and guidance to help me carry out my role safely and effectively. If I am unsure about something, I know who to speak to for advice.”Feedback from a range of professionals and families was overwhelmingly positive about how caring and compassionate the team were when supporting people at the end of their life.Care plans were person centred. Risk plans were available and detailed for staff to follow. The provider carried out environmental checks and took actions when required. People were assisted to make choices and maintain their independence.
