Date of assessment,22 July to 19 August. Hummingbird Care is a care at home service providing personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our assessment 51 people received support with a regulated activity. Staff were recruited safely. Learning from errors or complaints was embedded in the service. Medicines were administered to people safely. People were protected from harm as staff were aware of how to report their concerns. Effective systems were in place to ensure the quality of care was checked regularly. The management team had good oversight of the service.

Staff told us they enjoyed working for the service, felt valued and supported. One staff member said, “Yes, I feel supported by the team and managers. I have access to training and guidance to help me carry out my role safely and effectively. If I am unsure about something, I know who to speak to for advice.”Feedback from a range of professionals and families was overwhelmingly positive about how caring and compassionate the team were when supporting people at the end of their life.Care plans were person centred. Risk plans were available and detailed for staff to follow. The provider carried out environmental checks and took actions when required. People were assisted to make choices and maintain their independence.

People's experience of the service

Updated 25 June 2026

People received care from a team who knew them well. People and families told us they had received good care from the service. Most people told us they had the same staff which helped with continuity of care. People and their families were involved in care planning and reviews of care needs. People’s health and well being was a priority. People had access to health care professionals when they were required. Changes to people’s needs were discussed with them and care plans were updated regularly. People and their families told us if they had any concerns they would go to the staff and it would be addressed.

People were asked for their feedback through phone calls, face to face meetings and surveys. Following recent feedback about how complaints were manged the management team did are structure, and each person had a ‘named’ contact they could go to for any issues. This was very helpful for people. People were supported at the end of their life by a team who were compassionate and caring. End of life wishes were recorded in care records and staff ensured they were followed. People were encouraged to be independent for example, by using equipment. Outcomes for people were monitored by the team including the clinical team.
