Safe

Requires improvement

16 June 2026

We found the environment and equipment relating to fire safety did not always meet the needs of people, priority actions following a fire risk assessment in April 2025 had not been completed. However, facilities were clean and well-maintained. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received appropriate training.

This service scored 53 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.

Safe environments

Score: 2

The environment and equipment relating to fire safety did not always meet the needs of people, priority actions following a fire risk assessment in April 2025 had not been completed. However, local managers had completed audits in the previous 6 months relating to firefighting equipment and alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors and we found them to be complete and in date.

Leaders had developed QR (quick response) codes that enable staff to effectively monitor practice such as immunisation fridge temperatures, emergency trolley contents and equipment.

Safe and effective staffing

Score: 3

The service made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff who worked together well to provide safe care that met people’s individual needs.

We were told there had been issues with staff turnover over the 12 months prior to the assessment, however vacant posts had been recruited to, and the service had a stable workforce.

Managers told us they had restructured roles within the practice to establish core functions for example, data coding and for prescription administration.

We spoke with 4 members of staff who told us they were supported to attend both internal and external training opportunities. One member of staff told us they had one weeks dedicated training leave in their contract of employment. Training was up to date, we saw managers kept comprehensive records of both training requirements and reminders when updates were due.
