Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 9 June 2026.
Branston Heighington Family Practice is a GP practice and delivers services to approximately 4317 people under a contract held with NHS England.
According to the latest available data, the ethnic make-up of the service area is approximately 98% White, 0.8% Asian, 0.1% Mixed, 0.3% Black and 0.3% Other. Information published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows deprivation within the service population group is in the 1st decile (1 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the service population is relative to others.
We carried out this unannounced focused assessment because we received information giving us concerns about the environment and management of the service.
We assessed 4 quality statements from across 2 key questions. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.
SAFE: We found the environment and equipment relating to fire safety did not always meet the needs of people, priority actions following a fire risk assessment in April 2025 had not been completed. However, facilities were clean and well-maintained. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received appropriate training.

WELL-LED:
Senior managers failed to carry out the necessary actions following the last fire risk assessment in April 2025.
Local leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Governance systems were appropriate for the size of the service and ensured that risks, performance information and clinical outcomes were monitored and acted on. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment.
