Person-centred Care

Score: 3

The service made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs. Care plans reflected physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of patients including those related to protected characteristics under the Equality Act. Our review of clinical records showed patients were supported to understand their condition and were involved in planning for their care needs. They were also involved in decisions about their care.

Care provision, Integration and continuity

Score: 3

Regent Street Clinic is an independent health service. They are a provider of private health services which include travel vaccinations, remote GP consultations, sexual health, health screening, hayfever treatment, aesthetics, medicals, occupational health and counselling services. The service does not see people on an ongoing basis for their care and treatment. This quality statement is not relevant for this service.

Providing Information

Score: 2

The service supplied appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information in formats that were tailored to individual needs. Travel booklets were issued to people receiving vaccines, containing information on the vaccines received. However, some patients told us they had not been given information on side effects or what to do if they felt unwell after vaccination.

The service had access to interpreter services, including British Sign Language if needed. Information provided by the service met the Accessible Information Standard.

Patients also told us they were often surprised to be seen by a nurse in the clinic after booking what they believed to be a GP appointment and did not interact with a GP during their consultation. The service website described the clinics as providing “same day GP-led care across UK.” Therefore, we were not assured people were provided with accurate information on the outset before visiting the clinic sites.

Listening to and involving people

Score: 3

The service made it easy for people to share feedback, or raise complaints about their care, treatment and support. Complaints process had been reviewed since our last assessment. There was evidence of complaints and feedback being reviewed in a timely manner and financial redress offered where appropriate. In response to complaints regarding failings in explaining costs explicitly, the service told us they introduced a double consent form stating total cost of treatment which patients had to acknowledge and sign prior to treatment.

Equity in access

Score: 3

The service made sure that people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.

People could access the service to suit their needs for example online, in person and by telephone. Treatment rooms were mostly available on the ground floor at most clinic sites; where this was not the case, patients who required assistance with access were advised of how they could be seen, which could be at another clinic to meet accessibility needs.
