Kindness, compassion and dignity
The service did not always treat people with kindness, empathy and compassion, or respect their privacy and dignity. Arrangements were in place to promote patients’ privacy. We observed consultation at one clinic was not private as the room was left open throughout, including a consultation where patient was asked about HIV status.
Feedback received by CQC prior to assessment raised concerns about costs not being explained clearly prior to being seen; provider reviewed similar feedback and discussed with relevant staff about how to improve communications around costs.
Treating people as individuals
The service treated people as individuals and made sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. They took account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics.
Patients’ personal, cultural, social, religious and equality characteristics needs were understood and met. Patient communication needs were met to enable them to be fully involved in their care.
