Queens Square Dental

We had previously undertaken an on-site inspection on 23 July 2025 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions.

We found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of Regulations 12, 17, 18 and 19 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

We undertook a follow up on-site inspection on 16 February 2026.

This inspection was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to confirm that the practice was now meeting legal requirements.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had clear and effective processes for managing risks and issues.

Systems and processes were embedded among staff.

The practice is in Bath and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 6 treatment rooms.

We spoke with 2 dentists, 1 therapist, 2 dental nurses, and the practice manager.

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 23 July 2025.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.

There was a lack of effective leadership, and not all risks associated with the undertaking of regulated activities had been suitably identified and mitigated.

Although recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, these were not always followed, and oversight should be improved. The practice did not have systems in place to ensure that staff completed training relevant to their roles.

The management of the availability of emergency equipment and medicines required improvement to ensure national guidance was followed.

Infection control procedures did not follow published guidance.

The practice had 5 treatment rooms.

At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 16 staff, of which there were 5 dentists, 6 trainee dental nurses, 1 dental therapist, 3 receptionists and the practice manager.

We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 2 trainee dental nurses, 1 dental therapist and 2 receptionists.

The provider was not complying with 2 regulations.
