During an assessment under our new approach
Elm House provides accommodation for up to eight people who require support with personal care. The home was a two-floor property with a number of communal areas and large garden available for people to use. There were eight people in residence when we inspected. It was registered for people with a learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorder, mental health, older people, physical disability, sensory impairment and younger adults.
The provider kept people safe whilst also encouraging their independence. Care was person-centred with comprehensive, informative care plans which were updated regularly to reflect people’s current needs. Processes were in place to ensure quality care was provided, with effective systems for documenting information. Leaders had oversight regarding the quality of care by being present and available to staff, and by auditing care plans and other documents on a regular basis.
People were engaged with a wide range of activities at the care home and were also supported and encouraged to go out. The provider worked with other health and social care services and communicated effectively to ensure people received care and support which was personalised to them and met their needs.
