This was the provider’s first inspection at Coopers Croft since registration, and it took place on 14 October 2025. The inspection was prompted by concerns we had received around the management of safeguarding and other incidents which had occurred in the home. Coopers Croft is a registered care home for up to 66 older people, there were 41 people living at the home at the time of the inspection some of whom were living with dementia.
We found that the appropriate action had not always been taken by the provider and management of the home to ensure people were safe from the risk of abuse. Improvements were needed in the assessment and management of risks to people. Systems in place had failed to identify these concerns. There was a breach of regulation in relation to safeguarding people from the risk of abuse.
The home was purpose built, well maintained and laid out in a homely manner with areas for relaxation and other areas offering activities. People living on the upper floor were living with dementia and although the environment was clean and homely, it could have benefitted from some dementia friendly signage to support people to orientate around their home.
People were supported to have their health care needs met with access to health care professionals when they needed it. Staff worked with other professionals to ensure that people received the care they needed at the times it was required.
People were treated with care and dignity, and their independence was promoted. We observed people moving freely around their home and partaking in activities of their choice.
There were enough suitably trained staff to meet the needs of people living in the home. Although we received mixed feedback from staff in relation to this.
Quality assurances checks were undertaken to ensure the quality of care being delivered met the required standards.
