Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. People told us that they felt staff treated them with dignity and respect. A person said, “People are treating me with respect.” Relatives also confirmed staff provided care in a respectful way. A relative commented, “They treat everybody equally and they try to make them be better, mentally and physically.” People’s care plans identified their cultural preferences and religious beliefs and if they were practising their religion, so appropriate support could be provided. The manager explained people were encouraged to maintain their religious practises and were supported to maintain contact with their place of worship. Staff completed training on human rights as part of their equality, diversity and inclusion training course. Staff demonstrated they understood the importance of respecting people’s choices and rights.
