During an assessment under our new approach
Badgers Holt Residential Home is registered to provide care and support for up to 25 people. There were 25 people living at the service during this inspection. This is the first assessment for this newly registered service therefore we inspected all quality statements under the key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The inspection was carried out between 12 and 21 August 2025.
We found a breach of regulation in relation to good governance. The provider failed to submit CQC notifications as required by law. The principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) were not always being followed which meant people were not always being protected.
The manager responded to shortfalls identified during this inspection and implemented a programme to review all MCA assessments as well as reviewed the processes in place and submitted notifications retrospectively.
We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
