Our view of the service

West Wing Doctors is a private doctor’s service located in Bingley, West Yorkshire. The service is operated and managed by a doctor, with support from 2 reception staff, and occasional cover from a locum doctor.
The provider is registered with the Care Quality Commission to deliver the regulated activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. This includes consultations, examinations, and treatment of acute and chronic health conditions.
This is the first assessment for this service since its registration with CQC. At this assessment we reviewed the service’s performance in the key questions safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The service is rated good overall and in all key questions.
The service had a positive culture of safety, learning, and incident management. Medicines were managed safely and consultation notes were detailed and contemporaneous. Staff and premises records lacked effective oversight; however, the provider took immediate action to address this.
The provider carried out thorough assessments, involved people in decisions, and followed evidence‑based practice supported by audits. They supported people to manage their health. Consent processes were in place, and information was appropriately shared with other services.
The provider treated people with kindness and respect, and feedback from patients was overwhelmingly positive. They supported individual needs and involved patients in decisions about their care and treatment.
There was an integrated approach to patient care. The provider understood the importance of providing an inclusive approach to care and made reasonable adjustments to support equity in access, experiences and outcomes.
The provider had established effective governance and management systems to support the delivery of safe and high-quality care. There was an open culture and staff felt well supported. The provider demonstrated a proactive culture of learning, improvement and innovation.
People's experience of this service
As part of the assessment process, we asked the provider to invite patients to share their experience of the service via the Care Quality Commission’s Give Feedback on Care process. We received 131 responses, all of which were positive about the care received. Responses included comments about staff being caring, helpful, easily accessible, and taking the time to listen and explain things to them clearly.
Although the service did not routinely request feedback from patients, they told us they often received verbal and written comments about the service. The provider told us they had never received a formal complaint.
